Salt Lake City’s Indoor Dog Swimming Pools

So you want to take your dog swimming somewhere in Salt Lake City? But it has to be inside?

We’ve got your back.

Salt Lake City is lucky to have indoor swimming options and you should be taking advantage of them for your pup! Especially since it’s cold half the year around here; you’ll want to know where you can take your dog for winter swimming.

The fact that we live in a world with pools specifically for our dogs should be celebrated! Whether it’s your dog’s first swimming lesson or their 100th time at the pool, consider bringing a life jacket. We personally love Ruffwear’s dog life vests. You can grab yours on Amazon or at one of our top favorite pet stores in Salt Lake.

Barley’s Canine Recreation Center

2827 S 2300 E, Salt Lake City, UT 84109
Hours: Mon-Fri. 7 am to 7 pm, Sat. 9 am to 5 pm Sun. 10 am to 4 pm
Phone: (801) 467-6069

Located right around the corner from Tanner Dog Park, the very first place in the state to offer indoor swimming for dogs was Barley’s Recreation Center. Along with a great place for our four-legged best friends to take a swim, Barley’s also offers day care, specialized training classes, in-home dog sitting and specialty retail to the Wasatch Front. You’ll also find all kinds of treats, toys, and accessories for your pup there.

They offer recreational swimming 7 days a week, just be sure to call ahead to schedule the swim time or ask to include swim time if you’re boarding or using Barley’s for doggy daycare.

Barley’s pool is 21′ x 41′ and kept to high standards of hygiene. Their water management system filters, heats, and sanitizes the water through a circulation pump, a specially designed in-line electric heater and a high-rate sand filtration system — all to say the pool is clean and if anyone were to have an accident (because we all know it happens) then they’d be able to clean things properly.

Before you go swimming at Barley’s you’ll need to complete their Client Intake Form and Liability Agreement. Your first time will be a swim test with a staff member to ensure your pup is comfortable in the pool and can swim with everyone else during open swim hours. This is a fantastic way to get your puppies or timid dogs into the water comfortably. Don’t stress if you forget a life jacket, Barley’s has dog life vests of all sizes that your dog can borrow.

Dog Mode is Salt Lake City’s only in ground dog pool- a multi-purpose salt water pool that provides a beautiful and safe space for our pups to go wild. The pool is 45 feet by 20 feet and 4.5 feet deep at its deepest, allowing lots of room for play time, dock diving, and exercise.

We love Dog Mode not just for their swimming pool but also for their great 40-foot dock. It was built to the specifications of the North American Diving Dogs Organization so that dogs can train year round to participate in diving competitions. If you’re interested in training your dog in some dock diving, ask the staff how you can get started!

Along with a state-of-the-art diving dock, Dog Mode offers an outdoor fenced area covered in k-9 grass to let your dog get some fresh air and take plenty of potty breaks during swim time.

Before you dive into a new swim facility, you’ll need to schedule an initial swim orientation to show the staff at Dog Mode that your dog is comfortable in the water and will be okay during other swim times.

Staff will ensure all dogs are comfortable entering and exiting the pool safely, as well as provide general guidance and evaluation if you’d like to give dock diving a try.
