What to expect at SLC Yappy Hour

If you’ve never been to one of Salt Lake’s annual Yappy Hours, you can expect an evening filled with exciting activities for both you and your dog. Entrance to the event is completely FREE. Alongside a fantastic selection of food trucks, local beers, and unique vendors, over half of the event space is dedicated to an off-leash area where dogs can play and socialize freely. Temporary fences ensure that your pup will be contained to the designated play area and water bowls will be provided.

Popular Yappy Hour activities include pup cups, temporary tattoos, photo opportunities, live music, and more, ensuring a fun experience for everyone. The event tends to be busiest at the beginning, so arriving early is recommended. Due to extremely limited parking, carpooling is strongly encouraged to make your visit as smooth as possible.

Dog lovers of all ages are welcome to attend Yappy Hour with ID required to purchase alcohol for those who are 21+.

Fairmont Park Yappy Hour- June 11th

The first Yappy Hour event of the year takes place at Fairmont Park in the heart of SLC’s Sugar House neighborhood. The lush 27 acre park offers a small nature oasis in one of the busiest neighborhoods in the area, featuring a fully fenced dog park, several athletic fields, and a picturesque pond. Yappy Hour typically takes place on the west end athletic fields with parking available on the west, north, and east ends of the park. Due to limited parking, carpooling is recommended.

There are several nearby dog friendly restaurants and bars where you can get the party started or keep it going:

Cottonwood Park Yappy Hour- August 13th

Cottonwood Park is an exciting new location of Yappy Hour for 2026! This spacious West Valley park is already a favorite among local dog owners thanks to its on-site dog park, shady walking paths, and wide open green space – making it a perfect fit for an evening full of pup-friendly fun.

All the Yappy Hour festivities will take place within Cottonwood Park, though organizers have not yet confirmed whether they will create a dedicated off-leash event zone or utilize the existing dog park area. Either way, there will be plenty of room for dogs to socialize and for attendees to spread out and enjoy the activities.

Parking at Cottonwood Park is refreshingly easy compared to past locations. There is ample on-site parking next to the park, and overflow parking is available at the former Utah Department of Agriculture building (350 N Redwood Rd), making arrival stress-free for attendees.

Downtown Salt Lake City and the adjacent neighborhoods have several dog friendly patio spots you can take advantage of:

Jordan Park Yappy Hour- October 8th

Yappy Hour is headed back west to Jordan Park for its second year at this beloved community green space. Spanning 33 acres, Jordan Park has been a part of Salt Lake City’s history since it was established in 1918. The park is perhaps best known for being home to the (dog friendly) International Peace Gardens – a unique cultural attraction featuring themed gardens from countries around the world where leashed dogs are welcome to stroll alongside their humans.

As with many popular parks in Salt Lake City, parking at Jordan Park can be somewhat limited during large community events. Carpooling is strongly encouraged to help reduce congestion, and guests should plan ahead for a short walk from their parking spot. Attendees are also asked to be courteous of surrounding residential neighborhoods and to follow all posted parking guidelines.
